THE POLITICAL PATRONAGE by : AJIBADE DANIEL OLUWASEGUN
There should naturally be nothing so fascinating than the thought of knowing that we have been born into a democratically governed nation where the paddles of governance rest on the shoulders of every citizen. Particularly, for those born from 1999 (in NIGERIA) till date. This “lucky” ones putatively know nothing but the true inclusivity in government since the reverse is the case, in a country so believed to be democratically ruled.
It’s nothing short of an abysmal dismal scene, portraying same people but different political parties over the past 23 years of so-called democracy, especially when the cabals rotate power in the form of appreciation and as a reward system needless to ask their achievements.
A country of 62 years old has found herself in the hands of condescending leaders who only care about their pockets and political ambitions to rule in the vague of the masses and at the peril of peace. It’s of no ambiguity that in the year 2022, these old folks are still campaigning with the humdrum of; I will build roads, schools, hospitals, electricity, and the latest of which is promising the protection of lives and properties. All of which are nothing but the fundamental needs of a nation just as in the days of old.
In a generation where countries are busy giving manifestos with the promising of bills and laws that will help expedite the protection of the universe against greenhouse effect, it’s nothing short of shambles that Nigeria’s “umbrella and broom” parties are busy making bills to stretch their bowls for loans sharks. Needless to say, how disparaging it is when the loanee gives the same loan to the loaner in the form of a contract so the loaner can make profit and still take interest (of course after feeding).
Can any of these two parties who have been the captains of this nation tell me how retrogressive we have found ourselves and this nation at large? Can any of them stand tall to tell me how we have found ourselves in the position of a basket case nation? A nation that borrows to feed. Don’t get it wrong it is not bad to borrow to invest but when it for feeding (pay salaries) and especially pay strangling allowances to the so-called leaders, not forgetting the unaccounted mischievous budgets. Then you know “there is fire on the mountain”.
Despite few of the many mentioned above, they try to muzzle us with loaves but then, we have come to a point where the future of our grandchildren peep at our very faces with blood streaming down their cheeks and shackles around their legs, so we fear not their arrows of not giving in but to stand strong and bold to alter the political dynasty of this great nation unto a sound path, that they may be meat for the average man on the street who will no longer have choose between food or drug.
Yes! It may not come easy just like you don’t ask a man of his salary, nor ask a lady of her age and of course ask these “parasitic parties” to vote wisely. Nevertheless, we the masses can decide which heritage of a country we want to pass down to our generations via our votes.
LET’S VOTE WISELY!
LET’S VOTE LABOUR PARTY!!
LET’S VOTE PETER OBI!!
For a GREAT NIGERIA.

THE PUTRIFYING ECONOMY by: AJIBADE DANIEL OLUWASEGUN
Sometimes I wonder how long I’ve known this country of mine, a country where I was born to see the first sunrise and feel the very priming beauty of nature. Sometimes, I ponder over the grasp of how well I know this country but then the daunting sting of the next decade in relation to the last one encapsulates my mind.
Just a dozen year ago, I remember paying a whole term school fees at one of the FGCs with just 3,800naira (Three thousand eight hundred naira) YES! That amount. Now the said school fees is tantamount to around 120,000naira about 31folds of the last decade.
Within the last time frame, a stick of kuli-kuli was one naira but now a stick of the said common citizen’s food (allow me to say) is equivalent to 10naira which is about one-tenth the value of naira.
The aforementioned, mathematically denotes the fact that, 1,000,000 naira in the last 12 years now values at just 100,000 naira. WHAT A DEVALUATION OF OUR CURRENCY.
Garri which I was, and still very familiar with was around 25naira for 8milk tins (based on how we measure it in Nigeria) but now 250naira at an average based on your locality. Still around the fraction of one-tenth the value of naira.
Titus sardine which was sold at around 270naira has had its price blasted to about 480naira, a chunking 78percent increase. This is a grocery item which an average man who earns 30,000naira (the so called minimum wage) could have a taste of on a payday, but now eluded via price debarkation.
Eggs being one of the familiar sources of protein was sold at around 30naira to 40naira per one but as at the time of writing this piece, a piece of egg is pegged around 80naira to 100naira depending on the infinitesimal difference in mass. Around an abysmal bite of 150% to 166% trudge in price.
How many of such stunning economical degradation can I mention, how many of such dismays can be typed without the excruciating pain of it thought.
In a country where some set of individuals come to claim their turn in governance (like a political inheritance) perpetuated by some who think the future of this country is for tributes to their political gods. Needless to say that others think of flushing their selves through the drains of recycles without an iota of pity for the common man.
What a pain in our necks, the pain of not knowing what the country holds. In economical shreds where we can hardly sleep with both eyes closed.
In a country where the plans of the son to an average man is nothing but an illusion of the mind, what a country? A country where the fear of the future supersedes the cry and labour of the masses.
What a country with leaders but in lingers.
I HOPE THE TIME WILL COME WHEN WE ALL WILL STAND AT THE JUNCTURE OF FREEDOM
WHEN THE PEOPLE WILL CRY AND BE HEARD FOR THE MOTION OF LIBERATION
AND FOR THE INHERITANCE OF THE COMING GENERATIONS.
WE SAY VOTE WISELY!
VOTE LABOUR PARTY!!
VOTE PETER OBI!!! (-winning4lyf-)
